    The Sound of Silence

“THE OPPOSITE OF LOVE ISN’T HATE, IT’S INDIFFERENCE.“ Let me preface this piece by stating that I am sure Trump supporters are as scared of Vice President Biden as I am for their choice. I read some of the quotes from Elie Wiesel, a man who wrote 57 books, won the Nobel prize, was a prisoner in Auschwitz and Buchenwald during the Holocaust – you know, that event in history that never happened. I have read about him over the years and decided to look him up on Wikipedia and read some of his quotes. I was stunned. There are too many to get through, so I selected some…

Ch Ch Changes (Thanks to David Bowie)

I was planning to write this about two hours ago, but my cat Daisy was sitting on my computer chair and we all know about that!  So here I am. WARNING: I am wearing a tee shirt that reads, “THE DEVIL WHISPERED IN MY EAR, YOU’RE NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO WITHSTAND THE STORM” Below that is a black cat followed by “TODAY I WHISPERED IN THE DEVIL’S EAR, I AM THE STORM”  Just sayin! How are you doing? I thought I’d write about the changes in my household since this disaster began. Maybe you can relate or possibly it might help. First of all, because of the nature of this…

    PTSD

Do you ever have one of those ideas and don’t know where to start writing about it, yet you know you have to?   Writing isn’t only about you and your experience.  It is the hope that it will help someone else with their challenges. However, this is all about me and if you get something from it, I’m delighted. Last Friday, February 28th I believe, I was talking to some friends and mentioned that I had an elevated blood pressure reading. Two of those friends are nurses, Jeff and Fran. I made little of it and so Jeff went to his car and brought his equipment back with him,…

    Change of Attitude

So much has been written about attitude.  An attitude of gratitude is well known indeed, and it doesn’t have to remain the same because like life itself, attitudes embrace change. This isn’t entirely popular as there are so many different aspects to change.  Life’s challenges will change so much and with these, comes grief sometimes. Desires are part of these changes too like wanting to have love, friendship, loyalty, touch, conversation, and confidentiality. People want to grow and become whatever their dreams are, their wishes for a better life, more prosperity, work they love so that doesn’t feel like work, and success, although some are so beaten down they can’t…

    Wishes

“I believe that once desires are implanted in the brain, they start on the longest journey they will ever take, to the heart, soul and gut. That’s when things happen. “ I was always taught that wishes were a waste of time and just fantasies which would never happen, so why bother. Why not bother?  Wishes aren’t just hope that something miraculous will happen.  They are dreams of the impossible or so we think. How would we have electricity, cameras, even safety pins if someone had given up on what they believed would improve the world? I know there are some wishes that couldn’t be fulfilled. Something I would love…

Apathy and Feelings of Indifference Among Recovery Workers

“Apparently helping people who have lost their loved ones isn’t important because, after all, they are not billable.” According to my favourite information resource, The Oxford English Reference Dictionary, the definition of apathy is the “Lack of interest or feelings of indifference.” Lack of Interest or Feelings of Indifference I won’t bore you with more description details. In its simplicity the definition says it all. Guess what? There is no Latin word for apathy. In my Cassell’s Latin Dictionary there is no word for apathy. All that is written is apathetic (English) as in adjective. Fascinating. The basis of all English, Latin has no description for apathy. This says a…
